Have you ever sat in a darkened theater and become lost in the imaginary world of drama, sci-fi, action, and the adventures of great heroes and inspirational characters?
Since the dawn of time it seems we have been fascinated by the art of story telling and the secret worlds of the parables. Even within the Biblical narratives of Jesus’ life he would sit on the hill sides for hours drawing a picture of faith, hope, love and the undying presence of truth with the simplest chronicles of culture and social practices. If we were to consider the parables of today as they are expressed on the silver screen we can still find God at the movies.
Expressions Community would like to invite you to join us as we take on that quest of looking for truth in today’s parables. On the second Saturday of each month we gather and watch an engaging movie followed by relevant and thematic conversations centered on how we encounter God’s story and Kingdom beneath the films theatrics. The popcorn will be popping, the drinks fresh, and the truth always waiting right around the corner!

“Far more then any other influence, more then school, more even then home – my attitudes, dreams, preconceptions and preconditions for life had been irreversibly shaped five and a half thousand miles away in a place called Hollywood.” – David Puttnam

not sure yet i was just reading 2 sam 14-18 and had it playing in my head like a scene out of robin hood but i love the basic theme in the story of absolom and david. reminds me of robin hood. in robin hood we have an prince claiming the throne (like absalom) then theres a group of followers ahereing to the kings ideals in his absence. and they are ready to wipe out the prince with robin hood as their leader (just like king david and his army).
